Sarasota County residents provide input into the 2026 session of the Florida Legislature. Representatives of Control Growth Now, Monica Balicki and Cheryl Cook, address the county’s legislative delegation on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center in Venice. Control Growth Now requests a fix to Senate Bill 180, and especially Sections 18 and 28 which tie the hands of local government and give developers free reign to build as they please after a hurricane. SB180 suspends local laws, firmly established comprehensive plans, various protections, and land use regulations in favor of a quick, indiscriminate, carte blanche on building.
